is a free resource providing information on Indian birds and on
birding in India.
India is
a birding hotspot with over 1,240 bird species (13% of world)
listed from the country. From the highest Himalaya to the great
mangrove forest delta in the Sundarbans the land is unique.
It is home for some of the most sought
after wild birds in the world.
Birds
of India puts together the finest birders and bird
photographers to showcase Indian birds in one place. Originally
started as 'Birds of Kolkata' in 2001 the site has since grown.
Today it aspires to be a complete Indian
birding resource with images of over 1050 species, checklists, trip
reports, site reviews and much more.
The
site is educational and the expectation is to generate awareness and
interest in the avian wealth of India to aid conservation.
